Fun Gifts to Pack in Your Winter Wedding Favor Boxes

Winter wedding favor boxes are a wonderful idea for winter-themed weddings. They’re inexpensive and the perfect packaging for some of your favorite winter treats. Here are 3 fun DIY ideas for treats to fill those sparkling favor boxes.

Hot Cocoa Treats

Mix up your favorite dry recipe for hot cocoa, and place it in a pretty cellophane bag with a ribbon. Write the instructions on a small piece of decorative paper and attach it to the ribbon. Then, purchase small peppermint sticks and marshmallows. Place a marshmallow on the end of the peppermint stick and for extra fun, dip the marshmallow in melted chocolate and sprinkles or whatever embellishment you’d like. Wrap each stick individually for the perfect hot chocolate stir-sticks.

Gingerbread Mix

To create a large amount of gingerbread mix to divide among your guests, add 8 cups of flour, 2 cups of sugar, ¼ cup of baking powder, 1 tablespoon salt, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon cloves, 1 tablespoon of ginger, 1 tablespoon of cinnamon and 2 cups of shortening. Cut the shortening into the dry mix until it resembles corn meal in texture.

Then, divide up into 1 and ½ cup servings and place in a cellophane bag. Add a ribbon and attach a gingerbread cookie cutter. Write the instructions for guests to create their own gingerbread cookies by adding 1 egg and 1/3 cup of molasses to their mix, rolling the mix out and cutting their cookies and then baking at 350-degrees for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Mini Pies

These fun mini pies are easy to create and you can use whatever kind of filling you’d like. Simply purchase ready-made pie crusts and allow them to thaw. Use a round cookie cutter to cut pieces from the pie and place into a greased muffin tin. You should make sure the sides of the muffin pockets are covered. Add your filling and place a smaller circle of pie crust (or a flower or other shape cut with cookie cutters) on top. Bake at 350-degrees until the pie crust is golden brown. Place the cooled mini pie in cellophane and tie shut with a ribbon.
